WELCOME, WINTER ::
I’m so very glad I’m not in Boulder right now.

MY HOME FOR AWHILE: THE VICEROY HOTEL ::
1 week in LA down – 6 weeks to go. Don’t be surprised if I return to Boulder with a tan and my teeth whitened. Stay tuned, folks.
THE FREESTYLE 50 ::
If you’re in Lincoln tomorrow (Friday, June 5th) head down to Screen Ink (416 South 11th Street) for The Freestyle 50 art show, which includes a skateboard by your’s truly.
This entire EP by Suckers is amazing. Can’t wait for the full album. Enjoy my stand out favorite below.

TURN THE ECONOMY GREEN WITH JOBS ::
Just finished a poster for Power To The Poster. Posters there are free to download and print. And a lot of them are pretty amazing. We’ll be having some art shows coming up soon, so keep both eyes open for those.
So I made my goal. It was just short of four days. At noon last Friday I switched to orange juice, and by dinner time I was eating a salad and some veggie soup. Felt great. After all was said and done I lost 8 lbs (which I haven’t gained back) and have been eating a lot healthier (with only a few exceptions). I’m feeling really good too.
Looking back, it really sucked. Eating is awesome. It feels great. Not eating sucks. I feel great now, but I still don’t think I’ll be doing this again any time soon. Especially when there are other cleanses you can do that will yield similar effects that aren’t so hardcore.
I’ll try to skip the bad-for-you foods, like the Lark Burger pictured above, and I think as long as I do that 90% of the time, I’m on the right path.
Last night wasn’t as bad as night one. I was hungry, and watching my friends eat pizza sucked. Also, watching TV shows where they eat kind of sucks too (as Hines pointed out to me). I’m pretty ready to be done with this, but I have already lost 5 lbs, and I feel OK. At about noon tomorrow I’m going to switch over to orange juice, and then I’m hoping to have a salad tomorrow night before heading out for Ken’s Pub Crawl.
I’ll be honest – last night really sucked. I was so hungry, feeling pretty weak, and seriously considering quitting. I have some SPAM in my cupboard that Paul and Steph gave me nearly a year ago that was starting to look really good.
But this morning, something strange happened: I woke up feeling fine. Well, I certainly had to sit in the bathroom for a while (as you’re supposed to do on a cleanse), but other than that I feel great. I’m back on my all liquid diet and feeling pretty confident that I’ll make it to my deadline of Friday night.
Have you heard of cleanses? The general idea is that there’s a ton of terrible toxins in your body that you should get rid of every now and then. There’s tons of debate as to whether or not cleanses are necessary or even healthy for you, but I’ve done a super mild one before and I felt great after.
The cleanse I’m about to do is supposed to be the most intense one. It’s called The Master Cleanse, and it’s an all liquid diet. I drink about 12 oz of the liquid concoction pictured above every hour. It’s a mixture of fresh squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and water. Then I drink sea salt and water every night to totally flush out my system.
My buddy, Jason, did this for five days (five to ten is the recommended) and felt great after. Check out his blog about it here.
So why am I doing this? It’s less to get the toxins out of my body and more to hit reset. I’ve been eating like shit lately, and this will not only shave a few pounds off of me and shrink my stomach, but also just make me think more about what I’m eating.
That’s the plan at least. We’ll see how I’m feeling in four days.

COACHELLA, I MISS THEE ALREADY ::
Last weekend was Coachella. It was the best weekend I’ve had in as long as I can remember. Phenomenal. The music was great, but there was also just a ton of interesting people, weird art installations, and general curiosities.
About the shows: almost everyone I saw was great (with a few exceptions), but my top three were Beirut, Late of the Pier, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Beirut obviously plays amazing music, and their live show was spot on. Late of the Pier put out one of my favorite albums last year and at Coachella they had everyone dancing their faces off. There were a couple dudes in front of me that I’m pretty sure hadn’t heard them before; it was great watching them get super stoked about different parts of each song. And The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were my favorite on the main stage. It’s often tough for me to get excited by a main stage act because it’s not nearly as intimate, but they were pro, they seemed super into it, and Karen O’s weird mirror outfit didn’t bother me all that much.
In short, the countdown to Coachella 2010 has already begun.
